Soon blood-drenched zombies, ghouls and other creatures of the night will take refuge in haunted houses around the state.

FEAR FARM (SEPT. 23 - OCT. 31)

Fear Farm consists of five indoor and outdoor haunts that span a total of 30 acres, according to its website. New for 2016 is the Phoenix Haunted Hayride, a 10-acre hayride within a corn field.

13TH FLOOR HAUNTED HOUSE (SEPT. 23 - NOV. 5)

Why is the 13th Floor feared by superstition? That's the point of the "13th Floor" Haunted House. It gives you an inside look. The themes this year -- Dead House and The Frenzy.

SCARIZONA SCAREGROUNDS (SEPT. 23 - OCT. 31)

Scarizona has two haunts - Slayer's Slaughter House and Epic Fear Haunted House. They also have Operation: Zombie Storm, an interactive game where you shoot paint balls at zombies.

JACK AND JILL'S HAUNTED HILL (SEPT. 30 - OCT. 31)

Jack and Jill is a two-story air-conditioned haunt in Phoenix. It started as a home haunt and has since grown into an annual Phoenix staple.

SANCTUM OF HORROR & THE BREACH (SEPT. 23 - OCT. 31)

Venture through St. Charlotte Asylum, a place where Lenore one called home. She's had a violent past and isn't too keen on visitors. This year there is a new haunt called The Breach. It takes place inside a military research facility known as Bunker 16 that involved classified projects and a leech. The rested are not resting it seems.

THE CRYPT (SEPT. 23 - OCT. 31)

The Crypt consists of two haunted houses -- The Asylum and The Crypt -- and Chaos, a maze.

GOLFLAND FRIGHT NIGHTS (SEPT. 30 - OCT. 31)

At the end of summer, Golfland Sunsplash closes the water park and prepares for Halloween. One of the miniature golf courses gets a festive new look and a haunted maze -- called The Gauntlet -- is build. Good luck making it through this course.

MOUNT MAYHEM (OCT. 22-23, 28-31)

Mount Mayhem is a family-friendly haunt built in the backyard of a home in a Phoenix neighborhood. It tells the story of the Glomung, "creatures of the dark" that live at Mount Mayhem. This is a free haunt, however, donations are accepted.

EXTINCTION - LIVE ACTION HAUNTED HOUSE (Fri. to Sun., Oct. 7-31)

Extinction touts itself as a live-action haunted house. Each person is equipped with an airsoft gun and a magazine and will be led through a "post-apocalyptic world" where you will shoot at live zombies.

A disease outbreak is turning people into zombies. Schnepf Farms need your help to keep the zombies away. From an equipped wagon, you will shoot paintballs at the zombies.
