PHOENIX — Smoke could be seen for miles from a scrap yard fire burning in West Phoenix Monday afternoon.
The fire started around 4 p.m. near 27th Avenue and McDowell Road.
Firefighters say they were able to contain the fire to the scrap yard and prevent it from spreading to other nearby businesses.
Crews say they have stopped forward progress of the fire and are working to extinguish any remaining hot spots.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries have been reported at this time.
