This is where the Murphy family wants to be, back in the saddle and enjoying their horse property northwest of the Valley.
“The clinical trials there, it's just amazing.”
But Gina wants to talk Texas, that’s because Houston was her home for months as she got ready for a big transplant.
“It was pretty nerve-wracking not knowing what to expect,” she said.
Remember last summer when I sat down with this family? Gina had endured a round of chemotherapy and all she could do was wait for that call. Would a match ever come so that she could at least put up a fight against leukemia?
“There was sometimes doubts would creep in but..." her her husband Kory said, overcome with emotion.
Finally, the call came in. She left her family but her family never really left her. They sent her cards and notes saying: “Cancer leave us alone” and “Cancer picked the wrong princess.”
The Murphys' never could have guessed the source of the match: Cord blood. Two transfusions to reset her body and hopefully that would put her cancer into remission.
It was a tough task for this mom who couldn’t help think about her husband and kids back home.
“It was great help with friends and family and just a great support system," she said. "Everybody's been so good to us.
Now Gina has a new immune system, new allergies, new curly hair and a new lease on life.
