The University of Arizona announced on Monday the opening of its new campus in Oro Valley where the university’s veterinary education program will live.
The U of A will open its program at their Oro Valley campus, located about 30 minutes north of their main Tucson campus. This program will support a combined human-animal health research initiative, called “One Health,” that will provide new insights in both human and animal disease, diagnostics and treatment.
The new campus is planned to have a dedicated facility for clinical veterinary training in 2017. The U of A expects the program to save students and families up to a quarter of a million dollars in tuition.
Near the campus is Oro Valley’s Innovation Park, which is home to global bioscience businesses Sanofi and Ventana Medical Systems.
