Drivers are experiencing heavy traffic delays on the I-17 southbound Sunday near New River after a deadly crash involving a motorcycle.
The Department of Public Safety says there were also reports of a small brush fire in the area started by debris from the crash. DPS says the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and did not survive.
The Arizona Department of Transportation says the highway was closed for about an hour, but has since reopened. Delays were as much as eight miles Sunday afternoon.
ADOT provided the alternate route below for anyone trying to come back into the Valley.
