The staff at the 5 & Diner near Indian Bend Road and the Loop 101 received an early Christmas present.
A customer who ordered bacon and eggs left a $2,000 tip, on a $17.23 bill.
Nine employees split the donation, which comes at a time when many employees are picking up extra shifts to make it through the holidays.
"It takes a lot of weight off their shoulders. Two hundred [dollars] makes a big difference on bus boy pay or cooks' pay," said Delia Meek, a manager at the diner. "It makes your week, really."
The act of kindness has spread among other patrons of the diner, with one employee receiving a $200 tip.
Workers did not get the chance to thank their mystery tipper, but should he appear again, the staff agrees they will receive a big hug on the side of his bacon and eggs.
