A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a Scottsdale police patrol car on Sunday night.
Police say the incident happened near 64th Street and Camelback Road just after 9:30 p.m. when an officer stopped for a collision involving two cars.
A half hour later a motorcyclist traveling westbound on Camelback struck the driver's side door of the stopped patrol car. Police say the officer's vehicle was stopped in the westbound lanes of Camelback with its patrol lights on.
Officials say the motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died.
The officer who was sitting inside the car suffered minor injuries from the incident, according to police.
The intersection was shut down for several hours following the collision.
