Officials are searching for the driver in a deadly hit-and-run pedestrian involved crash in Scottsdale.
Scottsdale police said the incident happened shortly after 10:00 p.m. on Sunday in the area of Hayden and Camelback Roads.
According to police, the 81-year-old man was walking on the west side of Hayden Road with his adult son when the two decided to cross to the east side of the street. The elderly man was struck by the driver of a Toyota Prius in the northbound lanes while crossing.
The pedestrian, later identified as Sloan Jackson Harper from Alabama, died at the scene. The driver of the Toyota Prius fled the scene.
The vehicle was found abandoned and parked in the area of Mariposa Drive and Granite Reef Road. The vehicle had significant damage from the collision.
The roadway was closed during the investigation.
No immediate information was available regarding the driver of the Toyota Prius.
