Family and friends have suspended the search for a missing Scottsdale woman after a body was recovered by officials Monday afternoon.

Scottsdale police have not yet identified the female body recovered.

Meanwhile, loved ones of 56-year-old Diane Kay posted on their Facebook page dedicated to finding her, saying, “it is with a heavy heart that I share that a body of a woman matching Diane’s description was found.”

The body was discovered in the area of Dobson and the Arizona Canal.

According to Scottsdale police, Kay was last seen at her home around 5 p.m. on Sept. 11 near Hayden and Indian School roads.

She left her vehicle, cell phone, purse and wallet at home, police said.

Family and friends reported that her disappearance was highly unusual for her, and she has never done anything like that in the past.

Police said an autopsy has been completed, and they are waiting for additional details.
