Teacher pleads not guilty to sex charges

A Scottsdale teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday.

Christopher McKenna, a teacher and track coach employed by Scottsdale School District for 9 years, faces 6 counts of sexual conduct with a minor and 10 counts of luring a minor for sexual exploitation.

McKenna pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday. His next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 5, 2016 at 8:15 a.m.

Court documents revealedthat the 37-year-old and student met at a track meet and shortly after developed a sexual relationships. 

Police said the most of the activities took place in McKenna's truck in back parking lots of various stores near the school.

He has been placed on paid-administrative leave pending the investigation.
