A Valley school that specializes in helping students with learning disabilities and other special needs is celebrating the opening of their brand new center.

Sierra Academy of Scottsdale specializes in individualized learning by helping children with learning disabilities achieve a higher quality of life, according to their website.

Students between the ages of 5 and 22 will not only receive help with academics, but also learn communicative, behavioral and social skills.

From how to balance a checkbook to working on-campus jobs — the students learn the skills necessary to prepare them for the "real world." Students are even given time to unwind during the day in a designated meditation room.

Sierra Academy is planning on opening more locations in central Phoenix, Mesa and the northeast Valley.
