- Fire originated Wednesday, April 6 at 5:25 a.m.
- Fire began in the refuge on the Arizona side of the Colorado River and crossed into California
- Fire at 2,200 acres as of 11:30 a.m. Thursday, 2 miles west of Topock/Golden Shores Ariz., 10 miles S/SE of Needles, Calif.
- 40% contained, according to update from fire crews on Thursday morning
- Fire is burning in vegetation around the area of Park Moabi
- Minor damage to one structure at Pirates Cove
- Cause is under investigation, deemed suspicious in nature
- Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for Pirates Cove, employees and campers may return to recover belongings with an officials
- Evacuations have been lifted for Moabi mobile home park.
- Emergency evacuation center has been established at the Needles Park & Recreation located at 1111 Bailey Avenue.
- 165 personnel are on the scene
- Drivers along I-40 may encounter reduced visibility. Oatman Highway (Route 66, County Route 10)
- No injuries
