PHOENIX — Firefighters say a hiker found unresponsive on a Valley trail Friday was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
Other hikers found a man unconscious on the Pyramid Trail near 19th Avenue and Chandler Boulevard around 5:30 p.m. They performed CPR until crews arrived, according to a Phoenix Fire Department spokesman.
Firefighters were able to transport the man the approximately 300 yards to the parking lot and load him in an ambulance.
It was not clear whether the hiker had suffered a medical emergency while hiking, but officials said it appeared he had been on the trail alone.
