A pair of young owls were rescued from a dumpster in Phoenix this week.

Someone noticed the owls in a dumpster near 19th Avenue and Camelback earlier this week and contacted the Arizona Humane Society, said Bretta Nelson, spokesperson for AHS.

Photos of the owls' rescue were shared Friday from the Human Society's Twitter account.

The photos show Andy, an Emergency Animal Medical Technician, putting the owls in a transport box. The photos are dated April 27.

Nelson said the owls are five weeks old and appear to be "in good shape." They have been taken to Wild at Heart Raptors, a local raptor rescue, for further treatment and care.
