PHOENIX — Phoenix police say a man who was reported missing last weekend was found dead in a canal Wednesday morning.
Officials say 20-year-old Efren Ricardo's family reported him missing when he never showed up for work on Sunday, Aug. 16. He was last seen walking to work in the area of 19th Avenue and Hatcher Road.
On Wednesday morning, officers responded to the canal near I-17 and Dunlap Avenue where a body had been found in the water.
Police say crews removed the body from the water and the victim has since been identified as Ricardo.
A medical examiner will determine the cause of death, but police say there were no obvious signs of trauma.
