A waste and recycling company in Phoenix is taking precautionary measures after a threat was posted on Craigslist.

On Tuesday, an unknown person took to the website and threatened to “slaughter as many people as possible” with an assault rifle at the Waste Management building near Greenway Road and Interstate 17.

The message also indicated that it was written by a disgruntled former employee and accused a man of sexually harassing females in the office.

A Phoenix police spokesperson said the company hired off-duty officers to help secure the facility. Police are continuing to investigate the threat and it’s unknown if any suspects are in custody.

Waste Management spokesperson Isha Cogborn said, “The safety and security of our employees is our first priority and we take any threat seriously.”

Waste Management has also put security measures of their own in place as a precautionary measure, however, because the investigation is still ongoing they’re unable to provide further information, Cogborn said.
