Two pedestrians standing on a light rail platform were hit by an out-of-control vehicle in an overnight collision in central Phoenix.

The incident happened just before 2 a.m. on Friday in the area of 7th Avenue and Camelback Road.

Officers say a driver and passenger were headed westbound on Camelback Road when the driver lost control and hit two pedestrians standing on the light rail platform. The driver reportedly started to drive away from the scene when the passenger told the driver he hit two people and needed to go back to the scene.

The driver returned to the scene and is being investigated as a possibly impaired driver.

Fortunately, both pedestrians are said to have non-life-threatening injuries.
