PHOENIX — More than 60 firefighters responded to a fire that started at a discount store 35th Avenue and Van Buren Street, according to officials with the Phoenix Fire Department.
Phoenix fire crews arrived at the strip mall where the fire started around 4 a.m. Sunday.
Crews were able to contain the fire to the discount store, with surrounding buildings only seeing minimal damage from smoke.
The fire was contained around 6:30 a.m. Captain Danny Gile of the Phoenix Fire Department said.
For several hours, fire crews remained on scene to monitor the area.
It is unclear if any of the businesses in the strip mall will open on Monday.
