Phoenix firefighters battled not only a fire, but extreme heat putting out a double house fire near 32nd Street and Thomas Road.

First responders were called to the scene Sunday afternoon around 2:30 p.m.
Firefighters say crews worked in shifts to battle the blaze.
The fire started in the car port and spread to the cars and then the homes, officials say.
At least one woman was home, but she got out safe and crews rescued her cats.

None of the firefighters were injured or needed IV's for the heat.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
