After months of speculation, Governor Doug Ducey will announce Wednesday Clint Bolick is his pick to fill the vacant seat on the Arizona Supreme Court.

Bolick has never served as an actual judge but comes with an extensive legal background. Most recently, Bolick served as the vice president of litigation at the Goldwater Institute.

He also worked as an attorney at the United States Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division. Bolick has authored a book with Republican Jeb Bush. Bolick is a political independent.

Seven people were up for the job. ABC15 has learned Ducey conducted interviews with the nominees the week before Christmas and made his decision over the holidays.

Bolick will fill the seat left by Rebecca Berch who announced her retirement in August.
