Trying to stay ahead of a monsoon dust storm? You can now see when the dust is kicking up, utilizing new tech installed across the Valley.

Last year, the National Weather Service debuted the Dust Detection and Alert System, their inexpensive solution to provide alerts on dust visibility.

Installed across the Valley, the sensors cost $100 and can help expedite dust alerts before dust storms get out of hand.

The map below shows the locations of the 7 active dust sensors in the Valley.

In total, the National Weather Service lists 13 dust sensors, but some are missing from the map. This is because the unlisted sensors are an older model that have been removed from service.

The data collected and presented on the dust level map is considered to be experimental and should be taken as such.
