PHOENIX — The Phoenix Fire Department battled a 1st alarm house fire this morning.
The flames sparked at a home on Oak Street near 32nd Street and Thomas Road around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.
Authorities say the flames jumped from one home to another leaving at least one badly damaged.
Up to 60 firefighters were called out to assist. Officials say a gas leak was reported in back of the first house which prompted a hazmat situation.
A total of seven people and four pets were safely evacuated from both homes. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
