Phoenix Fire officials said wind made matters worse for them as they fought a second-alarm blaze Monday evening.
The junkyard fire started with a transformer shortly before 6 p.m. near 27th Avenue and Broadway Road and spread rapidly to debris and some power poles within 30 seconds, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
The fire was extinguished shortly before 7 p.m., and no injuries were reported.
