Stolen vehicle crashes into downtown Phoenix construction site

The driver of a stolen vehicle crashed into a downtown Phoenix construction site overnight causing significant damage.

The incident happened just after 1 a.m. on Wednesday in the area of Central Avenue and McDowell Road in Phoenix.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety says a trooper spotted the occupants in the vehicle reportedly involved in some type of criminal activity. The trooper then attempted to make contact with the occupants of the vehicle when the driver took off at a high rate of speed.

DPS troopers circulated the area along with Phoenix police officers. The vehicle crashed into a building that was under construction. The two suspects fled the scene on foot.

A perimeter was set up to search for the suspects. However, they were not able to be located.

Officers say they found heroin in the vehicle.
