Fire crews battled two large fires in Phoenix on Thursday morning.

Fire crews were called to the area of 5th Avenue and Van Buren around 3:40 a.m. for a vacant building on fire.

Flames had ripped through the two-story building's roof, causing crews to go defensive and call out a two-alarm response.

Several hours later, thick smoke could still be seen as flames continued to burn.

A second fire was called out at an auto yard near 40th and Clarendon avenues around 4:30 a.m. Multiple departments were called to the scene.

Fire crews have not yet released more information about the second fire, but ABC15 crews on scene said it appeared to be an auto yard of some type.

There is no word yet on what caused either of the fires.
