North Phoenix fireworks show sparks brush fire

The Phoenix Fire Department says a brush fire broke out Saturday night at the Reach 11 complex in north Phoenix near Deer Valley and Cave Creek Road.

A fireworks show was going on at the sports complex at the Desert Ridge Fireworks Show when the wind picked up embers from the fireworks and blew them to a large batch of Mesquite trees, fire officials said.

Due to the dense vegetation and strong winds, the fire grew.

A brush truck and other engine trucks from the Phoenix and Scottsdale fire departments were called out to assist.

Crews were able to control the fire and were extinguishing hot spots as of 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night.

So far, no injuries have been reported.
