Motorcycle officer seriously hurt in north Phoenix crash, police say

An officer is in the hospital recovering after being struck by a car in north Phoenix on Friday afternoon.

According to Phoenix police, a Phoenix motor officer was patrolling in the area of 7th Avenue near Union Hills Drive when they were struck by a car turning left in front of them around 1:45 p.m.

The officer was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, officials said.

The driver of the car remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

The intersection of 7th Avenue and Utopia Road will be restricted in all directions for the next few hours.
