Phoenix Fire officials say a family escaped safely after smoke alarms alerted them that their home had caught fire overnight.
The fire originally started in the garage of the house near Cave Creek and Greenway roads early Sunday morning. With quick work, crews that responded to the scene were able to save a large portion of the home, though smoke damaged other areas.
A couple, their 4-year-old daughter, a dog and a cat survived the fire and were not injured. A pet reptile unfortunately died in the blaze.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
