The Department of Public Safety is investigating says a car found Wednesday morning with shattered glass was a result of road debris.
Officials said the incident happened near Interstate 10 and 43rd Avenue before 4 a.m.
DPS initially reported that a projectile hit the vehicle, but during a 1 p.m. news conference, spokesman Bart Graves said an investigation revealed debris to be the cause.
The driver, Brandon Waters, told ABC15 he noticed a suspicious car near 43rd Avenue.
Aware of the recent freeway shootings, Waters sped up to pass the car. However, Waters said the car sped up until it was even with his back car door and then he heard a bang. He looked back and saw his back window was shattered.
DPS says Waters immediately called 911 and give operator the license plate number of vehicle.
