Firefighters responded to a reported drowning call involving a 2-year-old girl.
Crews were dispatched Monday afternoon to an address near 83rd Avenue and Camelback Road.
Officials said a bystander started CPR on a girl. She was taken to the hospital and at that time was not breathing and did not have a pulse, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
The child was put on a ventilator and is in critical condition.
Fire officials say the child was unseen for a few minutes and was found in a backyard pool.
