Phoenix Motel 6 security guard shoots, kills robbery suspect

A security guard shot and killed one of two robbery suspects targeting a Phoenix Motel 6 overnight.

According to information at the scene near 53rd and Van Buren streets, two black men, armed and wearing masks, entered the lobby around 10:30 p.m. One of the men jumped the counter and reportedly pointed his gun at the security guard, prompting the guard to fire a shot at the suspect.

The suspect died from his injuries and the second suspect got away on foot.

Police are still working to locate that suspect.
