An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of his sister Friday afternoon.

Phoenix police were called to the area of Grant Street and 19th Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting.

Officers came into contact with an 18-year-old suspect with a gun in his possession. Police took control of the gun and took the victim's older brother, Ignacio Estrada, into custody.

Officers then found 15-year-old Reyna Estrada in a bedroom, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound, a Phoenix police spokesperson said.

During the investigation, police say they learned Estrada also fired the gun at his father and missed.

The father detained Estrada until police arrived.

Estrada has been booked into jail on one count of murder, one count of attempted murder, and other felony charges.
