PD: 1 dead, 1 critical after shooting in west Phoenix

One man has died and a second remains in critical condition after a shooting in west Phoenix Monday morning.

The incident happened near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road before 10:30 a.m. 

Police say a third person was trying to drive the victims to a hospital when they stopped at 83rd Avenue and Indian School and called 911 as the victims' injuries became too severe to continue.

The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Bryan Herberger.

Police say the second victim, a 26-year-old man, is in critical condition but is expected to survive.

The victims were in their vehicle with another person when the suspect reportedly approached, opened the rear passenger door and fired shots into the car.

The suspect then fled the scene following the shooting.

Police describe the suspect as a man between 19 and 22 years of age, 5'3" to 5'5", having a thin build, with short black hair and was last seen wearing a blue shirt.
