It's finally time to decide where to eat this weekend and the Arizona Office of Tourism is hoping to make that a little bit easier.

They've partnered with the Arizona Restaurant Association to launch a website called Expedition Foodie AZ.

It can be compared to Yelp but with local Arizona restaurants.

The site will feature restaurants in the Valley and all over the state. The idea is for you to know where you're going and then pick a restaurant from the list. Or you can plan a road trip to try some of the places.

The site will have options where anyone can go on and recommend their local restaurant to be featured. Local business owners can also submit their restaurant to be considered.

Restaurateur Joe Johnston of Joe's Farm Grill in Gilbert says this site is good for the whole industry.

"It's not an individual sport. It's actually a team sport of working together to promote Arizona and... it's a really good way to move things forward for the state," Johnston says.

The Arizona Office of Tourism has been working on this for months. Employees tell me the food scene has grown so much in Arizona, it's hard to ignore.

Scott Dunn with AOT says, "We're seeing from those journalists and those travelers that come here that they're amazed by the restaurants in Arizona. A lot of people think of Arizona as a desert. They don't understand how much food is grown here."

The site features all local writers and local photographers. It's still in the early stages but Dunn says they hope it will become a premier site for foodies across the state and the nation.
