Driver sought in deadly hit-and-run in Mesa

Silent Witness is asking for help locating a suspect of a deadly hit-and-run crash earlier this month.

The crash occurred March 6 just before 10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of University Drive west of Alma School Road.

Police say the pedestrian, 28-year-old William Hawkins, Jr., was walking in the bicycle lane, just off the curb, when the suspect's vehicle struck him.

Officials say Hawkins, Jr., was pronounced dead a short time later.

The vehicle in question is described as a 1990-1998 White Volvo 960 or V90 station wagon.
