Fire spreads to RV, two homes in Mesa causing damage; dog killed

Two homes and an RV were engulfed in flames near 95th Place and University Drive in Mesa on Monday afternoon. 

According to the Rural/Metro Fire Department, around 12:30 p.m. firefighters were called out to the area where they found one home fully engulfed with flames shooting from the roof and heavy smoke coming out of it. The fire extended to an RV that was parked next to the home. Winds then spread the flames to another nearby house. 

The RV was destroyed, the first home is a total loss and the second home sustained heavy damage. 

One of the homes belonged to a human resource manager who works within the fire department. A family dog of 7 years was also killed in the flames. 

Seven people have been displaced because of the fires, which took over 50 firefighters to combat.
