According to Mesa police, an illegal immigrant has been arrested for having sex with an underage girl.
Gabriel Quinones was charged with sexual abuse after admitting to having intercourse on multiple occasions with a 16-year-old girl.
Quinones is a Honduran immigrant who has been living in the U.S. illegally for the past 14 years.
Police say the suspect is 35 years old and is a neighbor of the victim.
The girl’s mother, also the ex-girlfriend of the defendant, alerted police after being told by her daughter what had happened.
Quinones was arrested on Tuesday while hiding out in a hotel near Country Club Drive and Main Street in Mesa.
