Motorcyclist shows damage done to beloved bike

Brandon Jenkins still can’t believe it happened to him. A criminal leading police on a wild chase attacked Jenkins, trying to steal his motorcycle. Jenkins fought him off, but his bike was badly damaged after the suspect ran it over.

“It’s cracking and the plastic is breaking apart,” Jenkins said as he shows his beaten bike.

Jenkins watched the chopper video, showing him fighting off the suspect Joshua Monigold.

“It was kind of surreal,” Jenkins said. “I couldn't believe that was me, It was weird seeing myself moving and acting like that.”

Now, by the light of the sun, Jenkins is saddened to look at his GSX 600.

“It's  kind of been my baby,” Jenkins said.

It’s not an ordinary bike. Jenkins fought for his motorcycle. It was his big purchase once his time in the U.S. Army and a tour in Afghanistan came to an end.

“It was kind of the last piece of my deployment that I spent my money on,” Jenkins said.

Although it’s a tough sight to see, Jenkins says in a weird way he’s glad he was the one targeted.

“If it was anyone else, who knows, they could have gotten hurt,” he said. “So I'm kind of glad it happened to me because I'm okay.”

Jenkins said he has insurance but he doesn’t think he will get much in return for the bike he spent years upgrading. He is interested in fixing it up for his son and perhaps buying a new bike.
