The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 6-month-old boy.
PCSO said on August 12 they responded to a home near Hunt Highway and Phillips Road in San Tan Valley for a report that the infant was not breathing.
When deputies arrived they found a caregiver performing CPR. Deputies took over CPR and found the baby was cold to the touch and obviously deceased.
According to PCSO, the caregiver told deputies she found the boy in a crib, in an upstairs bedroom about 90 minutes after putting him down for a nap.
The boy did not have any signs of trauma and there were no report of any prior medical concerns.
PCSO noted the home appeared to be under renovation with exposed wood, nails and dirty floors.
The medical examiner’s officer will be conducting an investigation.
