A driver has been killed after colliding into a large tree in Tempe on Sunday afternoon.

According to the Tempe Fire Department, a vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed near Broadway Road and Country Club Way when for it left the roadway and came into contact with a large tree.
The person inside the vehicle was found unconscious and had to be pulled out of the vehicle by fire crews. The driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced dead.

The road reopened to traffic around 2 p.m.
