FD:Concert-goers injured at Tempe music festival

Posted

Nine people were transported to a hospital, including one with a head injury, during a music festival at Tempe Beach Park Saturday night.

Tempe fire officials said two juveniles in serious conditions were transported from the Summer Ends Music Festival to a hospital. There were about 12 people total who were treated by paramedics, according to the Tempe Fire Department.

Crews responded to the scene after reports that as many as 40 people were hurt at the event after concert-goers began rushing the stage.

One person was transported to a hospital from the concert in serious condition with a head injury, and prior to that transport two other people were sent to hospitals for other medical reasons.

Fire officials said people who were at the front of the stage suffocated.

Witnesses told ABC15 two women collapsed at the front of one of the stages after apparently suffering seizures.

Fire departments from Tempe, Scottsdale and Phoenix were called out to assist, and as of 11:30 p.m. were still treating additional concert-goers who were not involved with the stage rush incident.
