A 2-year-old child was found in a pool Monday morning and taken to the hospital, according to Tempe police spokesman Mike Pooley.
Police said the child was found by firefighters at the bottom of an 11-foot murky pool at a house near Rural Road and Southern Avenue.
Officials said police were originally called to the home after the boy's family called to report him missing. Once police and firefighters arrived, they found the boy at the bottom of the pool. He was taken to a hospital in very critical condition.
It is not known how long the child was in the pool for, but officials said the pool gate was open.
