At least one person was killed after a collision involving two tractor-trailers near Buckeye Valley on Tuesday morning, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
DPS said the crash happened on Interstate 10 near milepost 105.
Preliminary reports indicate a semi-truck loaded with potatoes was traveling in the left lane when it rear-ended a slower moving semi carrying clothing. As a result of the impact, the rear semi-truck caught fire. The passenger in that truck was able to get out safely, but the driver was deceased on scene.
Officials say the fire traveled from the cab of the semi to the trailer causing its contents to go up in flames. Firefighters arrived on scene were able to put out the fire.
The driver of the other semi was not injured.
Eastbound I-10 was closed while crews worked to clear the scene.
