Suspect detained after PD shooting in Glendale

Police have arrested and identified a suspect in Wednesday night's officer-involved shooting in Glendale.

Vince Lewis, spokesman for Phoenix police, said officers were called to 67th Avenue and Camelback Road around 7:15 p.m. about an armed person involved in a fight.

Officers located the suspect vehicle near 77th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Glendale. When officers arrived, they were immediately met with by gunfire, said Lewis.

Three of the four officers fired their weapons at the suspect who was shooting Air15 flew over the scene Thursday morning.

Detectives were examining the vehicle, which showed multiple bullet holes through the rear window.

The suspect ran away into a nearby apartment complex and was arrested shortly after midnight.

Glendale and Phoenix police said a victim at the traffic stop was hit by gunfire and taken to the hospital. The victim is listed in stable condition, said police.

The suspect was identified by Glendale police as 30-year-old Fernando Jaime, a resident of Glendale. He will face charges of kidnapping and aggravated assault.

No officers were hurt, according to police.
