New information released Tuesday reveal that the shooter in the Independence High School murder-suicideobtained the gun from another student, according to the Glendale Police Department.

Officials said the 15-year-old shooter, identified by her family as Dorothy Dutiel, approached another 15-year-old student on the day before the shooting and asked him to lend her the gun for protection. The male student gave her the gun, which he obtained from his home without his parents' permission, police said.

On the following day, Dutiel shot and killed May Kieu, 15, and then herself on campus. The two appeared to be in a relationship, police said.

The student who provided the gun is cooperating with police and the Maricopa County Attorney's Office will review his involvement in the shooting, officials said.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with Kieu's funeral expenses. If you would like to help, you can click here.
