Body recovered from lake at Cesar Chavez Park in Laveen

PHOENIX — Phoenix police have recovered a body from the lake at Cesar Chavez Park in Laveen, near 35th Avenue and Baseline Road.

According to officials with the Phoenix Fire Department, crews were called to the area early Saturday morning for reports of a man who fell into the lake.

Witnesses said they saw the man on a floating device, then fall into the water and never come back out.

A search and rescue effort was started, but soon after officials said they switched to body recovery mode.

Phoenix police say the body was recovered and no foul play is suspected.

The person's identity hasn't been released.
