Peoria Fire officials say a teenage girl suffered serious burn injuries in a boat fire at Lake Pleasant on Sunday morning.
Emergency crews were called out to the lake before 9 a.m. after what appeared to be an engine compartment explosion involving a boat that was launching on the water.
Four people and two dogs were on the boat at the time, according to Maricopa County Sheriff's Office. Two teenage girls sitting toward the back of the boat were injured.
One girl, 13, has first- and second-degree burns to 50 percent of her body. The second girl, also 13, suffered first-degree burns to 12 percent of her body.
A man on the boat also suffered minor burn injuries, but was not taken to the hospital.
