A woman is hospitalized in serious condition after she crashed a vehicle into a Sun City West canal Thursday.
The North County Fire & Medical District responded to the area of Old El Mirage and Beardsley roads after receiving reports about a single-car accident.
When fire crews arrived at the scene they discovered a car crashed through a guardrail and flipped onto its side at the bottom of an empty canal.
Firefighters used the ladder truck to get the woman out of the canal and into a helicopter. She was then transported to a local hospital for her injuries, officials said.
The name of the driver hasn’t been released and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
