Police are investigating a deadly crash in Surprise that killed a 19-year-old woman.

The collision happened around 11 p.m. on Monday in the area of Reems and Waddell roads.

Police say the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a Ford pickup truck. The driver of the truck was headed southbound on Reems Road when the male driver collided with a passenger vehicle with two occupants inside. The truck is said to have caught fire.

The female driver of the passenger vehicle, 19-year-old Alexis Rumer, died at the scene and the passenger, 20-year-old Kyle Wright, was transported to the hospital in serious condition.

Surprise police say prior to the crash, officers were called out to reports of a disorderly man who was threatening people at a local business. Callers told police the man, who appeared to be intoxicated, got into a truck and left.

Police located the man's vehicle and tried to stop him, however the vehicle sped away. That's when officers stopped pursuing the vehicle but seconds later the man collided his truck with Rumer's vehicle.

The driver of the pick-up truck, a man in his 60s, was also transported to the hospital in serious condition. He is being investigated for possible impairment.

The 19-year-old's mother spoke with ABC15.

"I remember just screaming, 'No more bad news, no more bad news I can't take any more bad news,'" Susan Pendleton said. "Then they told me that Alexis was in an accident."

"I want to tell her I love her and that I miss her," she said. "I want to touch her hair, I want to hold her, I want to give her a hug."
