Federal authorities are investigating after a small plane crashed near Horseshoe Lake on Saturday afternoon.
According to a Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson, a single-engine small aircraft crashed near the lake, about 23 miles northeast of Carefree, due to unknown circumstances around 4:30 p.m.
Two people were reportedly on board.
The FAA spokesperson said the plane crashed on a dirt strip in Yavapai Hills.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's and Yavapai County Sheriff's Office were involved in search and rescue efforts.
YCSO officials said both people on board were found by MCSO deputies and airlifted to Scottsdale airport.
Neither of the two people on board was injured, according to the FAA.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
